GPSR - December 13, 2024 As of today, the new EU regulation GPSR (General Product Safety Regulation) comes into force. Its purpose is to ensure that all consumer products on the EU market meet high safety standards and are traceable throughout the supply chain, thereby enhancing consumer protection and streamlining the monitoring of product safety.
For us as a distributor/importer, this means taking responsibility for providing user manuals and safety warnings, cooperating with market surveillance authorities during inspections, and handling recalls and safety issues promptly. GPSR strengthens consumer protection and requires distributors to maintain meticulous documentation and transparency throughout the supply chain.
For you as retailers of radio-controlled hobby products, you must ensure that the products you sell meet GPSR’s safety requirements. You are also responsible for forwarding accurate information to your customers, reporting safety issues, and cooperating in the event of recalls.
At Minicars, we have developed a plan to work together with you as retailers to comply with the regulations.
Among other measures, we will, based on GPSR: - Supplement products with information that is partially missing today, such as country of origin, wholesaler/distributor, supplier, and the responsible contact person.
- Work to ensure that more manufacturers provide the required information.
- Add missing information from manufacturers to products.
- Improve the labeling of our product packaging.
This work has already begun, and we expect to roll it out on a full scale over the coming months. Enclosed with this message, you will find an Excel file containing information by brand, along with a general product safety document. These can serve as a first step toward fulfilling the new GPSR directive. Contact person at Minicars: hannes.ottosson@minicars.se |
